What is a scented wax melt?

A scented wax melt, also known as a fragrance melt or wax tart, is a small block of solid wax infused with fragrance. Unlike a candle, it doesn't burn directly—the heat from a tealight candle gently melts it to release its fragrance. The advantage? No direct flame contact with the fragrance, which better preserves the aromas and gives a more subtle and long-lasting scent.

What do you need?

To use a solid scented wax melt, you need two things:

A wax warmer: a small stand with a dish on top and a space underneath for a tealight candle. They come in all shapes—ceramic, wood, stone... At ST'ART, for example, we offer a magnificent Buddha mango wood burner, perfect for a zen and cozy atmosphere.

A tealight candle: a small unscented candle that gently heats the dish.

How to use a scented wax melt: step by step

Step 1 — Prepare your wax warmer

Place your wax warmer on a stable surface, away from drafts and any flammable materials.

Step 2 — Place the wax melt in the dish

Depending on the format:

• Tablet or waffle melt: break off a square and place it in the dish
• Liquid melt: pour a few drops into the dish of your ionic diffuser

Step 3 — Light the tealight candle

Place your tealight candle in the designated compartment under the dish and light it. Within a few minutes, the wax will begin to melt and release its fragrance.

How much to use?

Liquid melts: for your ionic diffuser

Our liquid melts are specially formulated for ionic diffusers (also known as ultrasonic diffusers). Pour a few drops into the water dish of your diffuser and let the technology do the rest—the diffusion is gentle, even, and without direct heat. Ideal for a subtly fragranced atmosphere!

How long does a scented wax melt last?

The duration varies depending on the room size and the quantity used. Generally, one square of wax melt scents a room for 8 hours. You can reuse the same wax as long as it still emits fragrance.

Tip: when the wax has lost its scent, let it cool completely, remove it from the dish, and replace it with a new melt.
